About
So hard to write about…how some dry facts can describe a person. It’s like writing on yourself for a dating website. I was never fan of those…but I will try.
My name is Galit (pronounced gal-EET). I was born and raised in Israel, lived most of my life in what I consider the most exciting city in the world, Tel Aviv.
I had spent the majority of my professional career communications, publicity and dabbling a bit as a journalist. I worked in different agencies, and while marketing others, I always wanted to market myself.
I had an opportunity in 2005 to come the US and decided to take it. I served as a kind of ambassador or emissary for the Jewish Federation of S. Illinois, SE Missouri and Western Kentucky. I loved what I did there – it was a very independent job that involved creating festivals, coordinating speaker tours, lecturing at universities, churches and even being on the cover of the local newspapaper for promoting peace:-)
One of my favorite parts of the job was to lead cooking workshops. I would organize these events each time focusing on a different food theme, like Jewish holiday food or Israeli cuisine. I loved organizing workshops, bringing people together to cook and then share in eating what we made.
Fast forward, I met my dearest husband here, moved with him to Chicago and looked for a new job, realizing as a Hebrew native speaker, I cannot do public relations or journalism at the level I was accustomed to. I heard about the French Pastry School and enrolled myself and decided I would take my life in a new direction.
I learned to make chocolates, candies, ice cream, breads, plated desserts, morning pastries and even gumpaste flowers (not a fan!). When I graduated in the summer of 2009, I started working for myself at the farmers market, selling fresh baked goods. Today I’m leading workshops around the city, creating unique gift baskets and catering events.
I love what I do, I love to be independent and especially, to advocate for fresh baked goods, using real butter, real vanilla, putting the passion with the flavor and enjoying results that are worth every calorie:-)
Hope you enjoy my blog and website .
